Has anyone noticed that’s it’s getting… how shall I say it… HOT in the box? When everyone runs to the big fans like moths to a flame as soon as the WOD is over, leaving sweat angels behind, you know it’s summer.
And for Premier, that means that Summerfest is on the horizon! The big Summerfest event is our own in-house competition and last year it was a hit. This summer, we’ll be hosting our second annual Summerfest and it will be a time when the whole Premier crew will come together to enjoy some friendly competition.
Really it’s not much different than any other CrossFit competition, except for the fact that you’ll be competing against other Premier members. And this picture shows what it’s all about… The sweat, the fun, the competition, and the community that makes us who we are. So if you weren’t here to join us last time, clear your calendars now… because Summerfest is packed full of Premier fun.
Even for those who don’t intend to compete, we’ll need lots of volunteers and of course plenty of people to cheer on the competitors. After all, you’ll probably know most of those competing.
Our fearless event leader, CT Phelps, has not yet announced what the WODs will be, but rest assured – he’s crafting a day of challenging competition. As we draw closer, we’ll announce more details, the times, where to sign up, and… oh yeah… the WODs!
But let’s throwback to last year’s Summerfest and walk through just a few of the highlights and pictures. Maybe for some of you, it was your first competition and you’ll look back and realize how far you’ve come. And for a couple of you, it was the first time you got to walk up to the podium and take the big win.
So who are the reigning champions of Summerfest?
Women’s Division:
1st – Andrea Trejo
2nd – Natalie Wade
3rd – Fran Rohus Morgan
Men’s Division:
1st – Joseph Dappen
2nd – John Eikner
3rd – Mel Morgan
It was a very close competition! Does anyone remember that final row between John Eikner and Joseph Dappen? Talk about a photo finish. Just barely separated by a few split seconds, the whole crew gathered around the two rowers screaming and shouting until the end. That was a memorable moment.
